If you &lt;EM&gt;change&lt;/EM&gt; the user of an &lt;EM&gt;existing&lt;/EM&gt; Splunk install, you'll have to change ownership (chown, or the Windows equivalent) of all of the files. You'll also want to add the &lt;CODE&gt;--user&lt;/CODE&gt; flag to the &lt;CODE&gt;splunk enable boot start&lt;/CODE&gt; command.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I am asking this questuion just based on my curosity. We used to install splunk by the user name root, now will create any problem if I create a username called abc and do login with the user abc and install splunk?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
