Hello,

I am planning to upgrade one of our Splunk indexers from version 4.1.0 to 4.2. I remember reading that some licensing improvements have been incorporated into 4.2. I am just wondering if this means requesting a new "4.2" license from support or does the 4.1 version of license work with 4.2?

Thanks in advance.

Nope.
If you are actually upgrading the same server, your license should be automatically "changed" to the correct 4.2 version.
If you are instead using a different indexer, then all you need to do is go to the license manager page and add the license key (or upload the license file).

That is all.

For more info on the new license options though, you should definitely check our docs.
Cheers,
