I'm having one system with Oracle Linux branches-6/el6-u8, and I would like to setup Splunk Universal Forwarder on it.
Can anyone help with identifying correct installation of Splunk for this OS.

If installation of Universal Forwarder is not possible which version to select for Splunk Enterprise ?

OS Details,

Linux (Acme Packet Net-Net 6300) version 3.4.107-1-cov
Kernel: Linux x86_64 SMP #2

Thanks in advance.

We are using the current version of the universal forwarder on Oracle Linux. We installed on most system the RPM, but for Oracle Engineered Systems I would recommend to take the tarball so you have no dependencies in the local repository, otherwise an upgrade trough Oracle Platinum Services may fail.

@vodacomdf, It looks like Oracle Linux's source code is based on RHEL but with Oracle branding (version numbers match as well). Here's some documentation for the RHEL install: http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Forwarder/6.6.2/Forwarder/Installanixuniversalforwarder#Install_from_a_RedHat_Package_Manager_.28RPM.29_package

yes indeed, Oracle Linux is based on RHEL, see also this statement
