topic Does a forwarder implement load balancing when sending data to non-Splunk destinations? in Getting Data In

If a Splunk forwarder is sending information to a non Splunk indexer does the forwarder use the same load balancing logging/capabilities or is the information sent in a round robin fashion?

By default, Splunk forwarders will always use auto-LB when forwarding to any destination, Splunk indexer or otherwise. The forwarder will only use round-robin when you configure it to, but this is unlikely to work well when using a universal forwarder, as it will not parse the data before sending.
