&lt;P&gt;What user did you initially install Splunk as?&lt;BR /&gt;
Check Event Viewer to see what errors the Splunk installer generated.&lt;BR /&gt;
Best practices require that you uninstall and install Splunk with an administrator-level account at all times.&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>splunk installation error</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I uninstalled Splunk and install it again, the system displayed an error as follow.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Splunk install was unable to create Splunk Services.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Please make sure that the user running the installer has the correct privileges, including being able to create Windows services, Exitcode: "1"&lt;/P&gt;</description>
