hi all,

In splunk 4.3.3 if we clone the the views the copy of that XML is getting replicated.

but if we want to clone the input data it asked for me to browse the file..and put it into the splunk..why??

does the splunk will have the copy of the Raw file also or only the indexed file alone

can any one answer this???

What is your use-case, why do you want to "clone" an input?

If you mean you wish to copy and modify an existing input, you can navigate to the inputs.conf file and copy the details you require for your new input stanza.

Also once Splunk has processed an input for Indexing, the result of the processing is stored as the raw event (in Splunk terms) e.g. shown in the
_raw
field that is shown as result of the most basic search query.

Please provide some more information, so that we (i.e. SplunkBase) can effectively help with your concerns.

I agree it's a particularly clear question.
