topic WinEventLog:security - re-indexing after SplunkForwarder service is restarted in Getting Data In

Hello.

Again the question from me.=)

Noticed such a feature, if restart SplunkForwarder service, security event log is uploaded to the server again entirely...

-inputs.conf

[WinEventLog://Security]
disabled = false
index = security

If so, then tell me which the parametr i must add?
had ideas about checkpointInterval but do not quite understand how it works.

Thx

No changes required!

By default Splunk uses the fishbucket to track where it got to while reading files, in the case of winventlog the script handles the checkpoint so it records where it left off when the forwarder was stopped.

When the forwarder starts up it will resume the reading of the wineventlog from the last location it read...

If your saying a universal forwarder restart triggers the entire security event viewer to be re-indexed then that sounds like a bug/problem in the universal forwarder on your server...

Sorry for late answer.
Yes, it's a forwarder bug. After update all work fine
