      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;In Splunk fudamental 1 - module 4 excercise, user is required to upload files from &lt;A href="http://splk.it/f1data"&gt;http://splk.it/f1data&lt;/A&gt; to splunk using Add Data - &amp;gt; upload files. When I try to upload the file I get error &lt;STRONG&gt;&lt;EM&gt;"Unspecified upload error. Refresh and try again."&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;. I tried the following steps to resolve the issue but it doesn't seems to be working&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;OL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Tried uploading file from different browser.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Cleared cache and agin tried uploading the file&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;reinstalled splunk in the unix box&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;/OL&gt;

&lt;P&gt;I am using the Splunk enterprise edition ( Free 60 Day trail). Could someone please help me on this.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I am having the same issues over a year later...    has anyone at Splunk seen this before?  is this a setting we all need to tweak on out local laptops?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;@philips66 I have added an answer to your question. If you are trying to upload a folder instead of single file you would get the above error. Also if you have non UTF-8 encoded file binary file then also you would get the above error.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;If you are uploading a single file and it is not binary, then would you be able to share the screenshot of the ERROR along with the file from tutorial that you are trying to upload?
