Turns out I didn't need to acquire a key to fire off the searches via REST API from my Python script.

At least this was true in my context (custom module firing AJAX request to Module Controller) where there was already a session established via splunkweb.

Cheers,

Hi,

is there a way to retrieve an auth token for the REST api without hard coding login credentials into the script which interacts uses the REST api?

Cheers,
