    <description>&lt;P&gt;Apparently not without using a third-party proxy which would (probably not) be supported by Splunk.  Since the enableSplunkdSSL is set on the indexers, once its set, you're committed to SSL or no-SSL communication.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Additional background:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;I disabled https communication (between SH and Search Peers -- splunkd) for performance.  However, I'd like to stand up a standalone SH with secure communication to splunkd to the same search peers.   This is for a standalone WAN SH.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Anyone know if there is anything that would prevent me from doing this?  &lt;/P&gt;</description>
