I receive the above error. I'm trying to monitor a directory from my local computer (UF installed) and checking the output in Splunk cloud. The output doesn't show up in Splunk cloud. When I check the splunkd.log. I find the above error.

DC:DeploymentClient - channel=tenantService/handshake Will retry sending handshake message to DS; err=not_connected
DC:PhonehomeThread - Attempted handshake 10 times. Will try to re-subscribe to handshake reply

Hi,
sounds like you are having a network issue between the UF and DS. Please check the ports/firewall as that is most likely the cause of the issues as the UF is having issues connecting (completing the handshake) to the DS.
Also check security groups (if you can) and try restarting the DS and the UF.
