"Splunk for Excel Export" not working in SPLUNK 6

Hello,

I was using splunk 5.x and recently I upgrade it to splunk 6 enterprise version. I am using "Splunk for Excel Export" app. for excel export. It works fine with version 5.x but It is not working in Splunk 6 version.

It shows the "Excel Export" button but after giving file name it continuously stays in progress and nothing happens even after waiting long time. I am new to splunk. Does anyone have idea how to make this application compatible with the latest splunk version?

I noticed this too. It has to do with our new and improved splunkd HTTP server in 6.0, which by default uses HTTP 1.1 Chunked Transfer Encoding (the 4.x and 5.x HTTP server did not). We are working on fixing it, but I can't provide an exact ETA yet. I will be sure to update here when a new version is ready for distribution.

Excel Export version 2.0.3 is now available and adds Splunk6 support. You should also notice enhanced performance. Downloads begin immediately instead of having to wait for the server to complete generating the file. The overall start-to-finish time isn't quicker, but you should be able to immediately return to Splunking instead of waiting on the server to respond.

May be my case is similar
I use splunk 6 and excel export app v2.0.3, my splunk web is at https://127.0.0.1:8000, but when i press excel export button i have window with file name and row limitation then i press export button and i get page at
https://127.0.0.1:8000/en-US/custom/excel_export/excel/1386581618.26?filename=srgsrt&count=10000
WEB page not found
Error code: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

I'm getting same error when trying to export as andrey2007. Is there an exclusion I need to include for antivirus? I'm already excluding the python.exe process.

Jess: are you also running splunk on your localhost like andrey?

Does the issue also occur when you use firefox?

Firefox can't find the file at https://oursplunkserver:8000/en-US/custom/excel_export/excel/1386687594.682?filename=&count=10000.

Version 2.0.4 has been released to handle the issue with Windows 2008. Please let me know if this does not resolve your problems.
