&lt;P&gt;free license won't work with DB Connect, because it needs RBAC and that isn't available. If you're a licensed customer, you can have it contact your license master or you can contact support to get a forwarder license.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;I'm not sure that message is related, but I am pretty sure that setup can't complete without an Enterprise license because it needs to do permissions-related activities.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>DB Connect Communication to server during setup?</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hey,&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;I'm using a Splunk Free License on Windows Server 2012 and I'm trying to install DB Connect 3.1.3.&lt;BR /&gt;
After manually uploading the "splunk-db-connect_313.tgz" file and trying to run the app setup in Splunk Web, DB Connect stops working:&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper" image-alt="alt text"&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.splunk.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/5348i3F9FC1357B54B045/image-size/large?v=v2&amp;amp;px=999" role="button" title="alt text" alt="alt text" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;I've installed JDK 8 and after looking for internal splunk errors with &lt;CODE&gt;index=_internal sourcetype="dbx*" error&lt;/CODE&gt; and I got the following notification:&lt;BR /&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Could this be a storage or network connection error? Does DB Connect need to communicate to others servers in order to install the app?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
