"Splunk Add-on for Microsoft Hyper-V" is a "Splunk Built" app.
https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/1253/#/details

So, most of the users requirements like dashboards, reports, alerts would be available on this add-on.

COMPATIBILITY
Products: Splunk IT Service Intelligence, Splunk Enterprise
Splunk Versions: 6.6, 6.5, 6.4, 6.3
Platform: Platform Independent
CIM Versions: 4.x

the Splunk7.2 is not officially supported(, but it may work fine, you can give it a try on a splunk test box. )
