Hello,

Ignored Expections are a bit hard to manage if one has a long list of exceptions to handle. There is no import or export function which it would be very usefull, sorting and enable/disable buttons will help as well.

Are there any plans to improve this in feature versions of AppDynamics?

Thanks,

Hi Bogdan,

1) We have application import and export functionality. On the home screen, click the 3 dots on the top right corner to export application. Please find the screenshot attached screenshot attached for your ref.

It will export all the configired rule including configured ignore exceptions in the xml format. You can import to another applications. For example, please find screenshot attched for ref.

Currently we do not have any enable/disable option for ignore expetion rule. You can delete the rule which you have created for disable the rule completly.
2) Rest api's are available that be used to automate import/exporting:
https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO43/Configuration+Import+and+Export+API

Please let us know if it helps or we minunderstood anything.

Thanks,

Ashish.

Hi Ashish,

Thanks for your reply.

1. Is a good solution if you are not in a very controlled environment, sometimes one does not have involved permissions for this import/export applications. Question though: If the application already exists and you try to over-write only the exceptions list from an exported application xml, will it work? And not over-write the other settings?

2. I will have to look into. 🙂

Have a great one,

Bogdan

Hi Bogdan,

If the application already exists and you try to over-write only the exceptions list from an exported application XML, yes, it will work. It will not overwrite the other settings if you uncheck the other settings checkbox while importing the config.

Please try the suggested solution and check the behavior.

Please let us know if it helps or you have any question.

Thanks,
