Community Update: Say Hello to Our New Navigation Bar!

Hello, Splunk Community!

As you may have already noticed, things are looking a wee bit different around here today. That's because we’ve launched a new navigation bar here on the Splunk Community platform. With more succinct labeling, relevant categorization and a more purposeful navigation design on desktop and mobile, we hope that this will not only ensure you’re able to get the information that you need, but also provide an exceptional user experience — as you deserve!

When we set out to refresh the nav bar, we made data-driven choices to determine how to approach this. We took stock of the boards and pages with the most traffic and activity, as well as getting feedback directly from our amazing community members (you!) to determine what’s been working well as well as where there was room for improvement.

While we recognize that any changes require a bit of adaptation and time to get used to, the majority of the Splunk Community experience should remain functionally unchanged for you. We recommend taking a look through the new top level categories to see where adjustments were made, paying particular attention to the following changes:

  • The nav bar line item formerly called Discussions, where the Community Blog, Product News & Announcements, Tech Talks, Office Hours, and Training & Certifications pages live, has been updated to News & Education.

  • Community Lounge is a new section where you’ll find information on how to get started with the Splunk Community, details on the SplunkTrust, and other community initiatives as they arise.

  • The User Groups link in the top navigation menu now takes you directly to the User Groups site, where you can link up with other Splunk users, both locally (IRL) and globally (through virtual or hybrid events).

  • You may also notice a new Resources section, which is where you can now find links to Splunk Ideas, Developer resources, Documentation, and the full Splunkbase site. We've also added a link to Apps & Add-Ons to the top nav bar, as we've also launched an exciting new Splunkbase integration!

  • As far as Splunk Answers goes, things should still look pretty familiar there, as not much has changed. In the future, we will be combining certain categories and labels for the purpose of creating a cleaner, more easily navigable secondary menu.

As always, this platform is just one of the myriad of ways to engage with the Splunk Community. If you haven’t already done so, we heartily welcome you to check out not only the portions of this platform you may not be as familiar with, but also to join our Community Slack and hit up a local User Group event!

Whatever your preferred way to engage with your fellow Splunk users and community members, we hope you know how important you are to us here at Splunk. Our primary goal is to provide you with a  helpful, friendly, smooth community experience, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Cheers!
The Splunk Community Team
